Just a boost, or maybe
a new start—
With twenty years of ranch work behind him, Jeff
often thought about making a change. He figured unless
he owned a place, there wasn’t much future in
ranch work.
The lack of health insurance bothered him, and he needed
to be thinking about retiring some day. But saving
money for retirement wasn’t even an option with
the wages he made.
He’d done a little electrical work over the years
and thought it might be worth looking into. When his
wife told him about REO, it looked like the opportunity
he needed to learn a trade that paid a good wage. If
he could get some help to get started, he figured he
had the ability and the attitude to do pretty well. REO offered quite a bit of help. Books, tools and even
a portion of his wages were paid to help him begin
journeyman electrician’s on-the-job training.
At last report, he had nearly half the journeyman hours
needed for a license. He enjoys his weekends and evenings
off after years of working “24-7.” He’s
doing work he enjoys, but now he’s also pursuing
his goal of financial security.
REO
means opportunity for farm and ranch workers & their
families.
