Opportunity can make a dream reality.
We’re here to help farm and ranch workers who earn
a wage, but still don’t make enough to get by on. We offer opportunities for workers
to improve earning ability in agriculture or to find work
off the farm. We can help the worker or qualifying family
members with training and employment—even with things
like transportation, tools, clothing, books, tuition and
living expenses while in training. |

What kind of opportunities?
- HELP WITH A JOB SEARCH—Identifying marketable skills and abilities is where
we’ll start. We can assist with resumes and job applications, who to contact,
and how. We’ll help with computer and internet access, as well as teach
survival skills to keep a job.
- TRAINING AND EDUCATION—In the classroom, or on the job. We’ll help
pay expenses for vo-tech, trade school, technical training or career-related
college programs. We can help with training to earn a GED. Tuition, books, and
some living expenses can be covered. We’ll also help you look for grants,
loans and scholarships.
- ON-THE-JOB TRAINING—A great option for some. We’ll help find a suitable
employer and even help pay wages during training. Employment continues when the
training is complete.
- SUPPORT
SERVICES—Transportation, tools and even clothing, for example.
Whether a person’s goals include staying in agriculture, training for better
paying work or making a career change, we can help meet the challenges. Support
ranges from eyeglasses to child care and work boots to car tires.
- EMERGENCY
ASSISTANCE—Limited, but critical support services are available
for migrant workers and their families. Emergency food, shelter, transportation
and clothing are examples.
Our
program is funded by the U.S.
Department of Labor so there’s paperwork. But
we can help with that too.
